It is the season of foldable phones, so why should Google, which manufactures one of the best camera-centric phones, be left behind? As per rumours, the tech company is all set to announce its first ever foldable smartphone during its Google I/O event which is scheduled to take place on May 10.
However, ahead of the official announcement, the pictures and videos of the Google Pixel Fold, which are seemingly real have been revealed online by two reliable tipsters online.
Tipster Kuba Wojciechowski has posted a video of the Pixel Fold on Twitter. He posted the video in a six-second video. The video shows the device with a selfie camera, thick internal bezels, and rounded edges. While there is no logo or Google camera module, this is believed to be the best look at the device so far.
Previous leaks suggest the Pixel Fold may weigh around 283gms, making it 20gms heavier than its closest competitor, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4. When folded, the Pixel Fold is expected to measure 5.5 inches in height, 3.1 inches in width, and 0.5 inches in depth. However, the exact dimensions of the device when unfolded are still unknown.
This leak comes after earlier renders and a video of someone using the device on the New York Subway had surfaced. With the release of this video, it seems more likely that Google is getting closer to launching the Pixel Fold, although an official announcement is yet to be made.
Currently, the foldable market space is being dominated by Samsung. Oppo, Tecno have entered the segment too but Samsung still remains the undisputed king. However, if Google makes the Pixel fold available as per the rumours, the buyers will get more phones to choose from.
As far as the pricing is concerned, Jon Prosser, the Google Pixel Fold is expected to cost $1,799 (over Rs 1.47 lakh) for the 12GB/256GB model in two colours, Chalk and Obsidian. The 12GB/512GB model will only come in Obsidian colour and is expected to be available for $1,919 (over Rs 1.57 lakh). If you pre-order the Pixel Fold, you may also receive a free Pixel Watch.
Pre-orders for the Pixel Fold will begin on May 10 on the Google Store. The phone is expected to be shipped starting June 27, as per the leaked information.
