After OnePlus launched the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite in India, the company is reportedly gearing up to launch a more advanced version of the smartphone. Dubbed Nord 3, the smartphone will succeed the OnePlus Nord and OnePlus Nord 2. According to a new leak, the phone will launch in India "6-8 weeks from now."
The leak comes from Yogesh Brar, who has a decent track record when it comes to revealing smartphone specifications and prices much ahead of the official launch. In a tweet, Brar notes that OnePlus Nord 3 would cost between Rs 30K to 40K, which is not fully surprising since the company has been increasing the price with each new generation.
The original Nord launched in 2020 was priced at Rs 24,999 for the 64GB storage option. The OnePlus Nord 2 5G started at Rs 27,999 in India for the base variant with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage. Last year's Nord 2T launched with a starting price of Rs 28,999.
Apart from the pricing, the tweet indicates that the OnePlus Nord 3 would feature a 6.7-inch 1.5K AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, it may include MediaTek's Dimensity 9000 SoC and a 5,000mAh battery. The battery may support 80W fast charging, which might give OnePlus an edge over rivals in terms of charging speed. However, Xiaomi also offers 120W fast charging with its Xiaomi 11i HyperCharge 5G, which costs Rs 25,999 in India right now.
Other key features, as claimed by Brar, include a triple rear camera system comprising a 64-megapixel primary sensor, an 8-megapixel secondary camera, and a 2-megapixel snapper. The front may house a 16-megapixel selfie camera, which is quite standard on the OnePlus phones these days.
The tweet does not specify anything about the design, though OnePlus has been quite experimental with its Nord series. Recently, the OnePlus Nord CE 3 Lite 5G was launched with new Lime colour options, which is the new OnePlus portfolio. Generally, Nord phones are popular for a teal blue finish that the new CE 3 Lite did not receive.
OnePlus may also want to retain the alert slider on the Nord 3. The slider helps users seamlessly toggle between loud and silent audio modes. OnePlus removed the slider on some of its phone's budget phones, such as Nord CE 2 Lite and Nord CE 2 Lite. However, the Nord 2T includes the slider and we can expect the same on Nord 3.
